Hello. My name is Diana Jackson and I am a writer. Phew, that wasn’t so difficult to admit after all. It’s been an eventful journey into Writerland which began in my late teens, writing poetry and short stories. Then, at the turn of the century, (2000) I thought, just maybe, that I could write a novel to share with others.
Apart from writing, I love gardening and am a Kinghorn in Bloomer.
Also, having been made redundant from my Tutor post in Further Eduncation, (probably due to being too old at 55 years!) I decided to launch a writers’ collective publishing company and through this I am still in touch with many authors back in Bedfordshire, as well as working with local authors in Fife and Edinburgh. This is both rewarding and challenging.
ABOUT MY WRITING:
I write because I enjoy writing, and far more words and ideas drift into my head than I will ever get a chance to record in print. My love of social history influences all of my work, from The Riduna Series, including my debut novel Riduna (first published in 2009) and the second in the series Ancasta ~Guide me Swiftly Home released in 2012; a memoir, The Life and Demise of Norman Campbell aged 103 years, and my most popular project so far, Murder, Now and Then, a murder mystery inspired by an unsolved murder in Bedfordshire back in 1919.
Ancasta Guide me Swiftly Home led to a great deal of research about early flight and the birth of Supermarine 100 years ago, a quite unexpected interest, including frivolous flying facts and of course the more sobering WW1. This novel is set in the exciting times of the early development of seaplanes in particular, but it is also a family saga, with key events in history seen through the eyes of each family member.
After a break from writing for two years, in order to settle into our new life in Fife, I wrote The Healing Paths of Fife, which to date has raised more than £700 for local charities, including The Kirkcaldy Foodbank. The latest in my Mystery Inspired by History Series MISSING Past and Present was released early March 2020 and another Inspirational and Motivational little book Search for the Pearl Inside Yourself came out in summer 2021, as an inspiration and encouragement to young adults.
