Diana’s Virtual Tour of The Kingdom of Fife ~ Dysart of Outlander Fame!

Dysart is a fantastic starting point for a walk along the coastal path in either direction, or the half way point from Kirkcaldy and back again. The harbourmaster’s Cafe is now a bistro. Here’s no 8 of my virtual tour of Fife revisited.

The new edition of ‘The Healing Paths of Fife’ is available. All profits to Kirkcaldy Foodbank.

Dysart is one of the locations of the popular series Outlander, which I’ve only just started watching on DVD. It is my Tuesday evening treat when my husband is out at Rotary!

We discovered Dysart fairly early on during our first stay in Kinghorn by following the sign to The Harbour Master’s House from the main road; the scenic route of The Fife Coastal Trail. The building is seen in the photo above on the other side of the wee inner harbour, which was once a haven for ships carrying salt and coal.

The Harbour Master’s House is now a cafe bistro (aptly situated on Hot Pot Wynd) serves mouthwatering home made soups, but it is also the home of The Fife Coastal Path’s information centre; a room with a wealth of photos and resources informing you of the flora, fauna, history and geology of the area. It was there…

THE HEALING PATHS OF FIFE ~ Revised and Updated

It was time, following the pandemic, for me to revise and update the popular The Healing Paths of Fife. Since it was a fantasy memoir, not only has my life moved on somewhat, having lived permanently
in Fife now for eight years, but also the towns and villages and their facilities have changed. I would like to mention that Alec and Moira, to whom the original book was dedicated, the owners of the Wee Shoppe on Kinghorn Beach, have retired due to ill health. I am still in touch with them but
they are missed by many.

I have raised well over £700 in profit from the book for The Kirkcaldy Foodbank and other local charities, and will continue to do so. If you buy it you would also be supporting a worthwhile and much needed charity.

Available at Amazon

and Waterstones

In the next couple of months I am going to revisit those wonderful places in Fife much loved and mentioned in the book.

An Inspirational Stocking Filler for Christmas

New Cover Reveal of ‘Search for the Pearl’

I digress from my series of posts to bring you the news that

SEARCH FOR THE PEARL INSIDE YOURSELF’

has this fantastic new cover:

An Inspirational and Motivational little book for young people who are struggling to find their way at the moment.

This version is only available:

at Waterstones

at the Great British Bookshop

I have heard so many people say that their grandson, grand daughter, nephew or niece find it hard to move on after Covid and Brexit. Opportunities open a few years ago have challenges, drawbacks and hidden pressures.

Their education has been disrupted.

Their university days which should have been uplifting and full of social events has been curtailed or irreparably damaged.

Opportunities to travel or work abroad have narrowed.

A gap year of travels is weighed down with concern for the environment.

A 20 year old waiter in Greece remarked back in May just as restrictions were being lifted, ‘I’ve always wanted to see a bit of the world and maybe work in the UK for a while but I’m not sure it will ever be the same again.’

This is a theme close to my heart having taught struggling 16 to 19 year olds for over a decade in Luton Bedfordshire before moving to Fife.

There are still a few copies of the first edition which I am prepared to GIVEAWAY FREE in the UK, for just the cost of postage, if you get in touch with me before Christmas and outline briefly why you think it might help. Please don’t name the young person though.
